Landscape construction plans — what's in the set

A construction plan set is the document a contractor builds from. It's also the document a city or water district reviews for permit. Both audiences are unforgiving of ambiguity — these answers cover what's in the set and why.

What sheets are in a landscape construction plan set?+

Cover sheet with project info and sheet index; demolition plan; hardscape layout with dimensions and elevations; planting plan with full plant list; irrigation plan with hydrozones and water-use calculations; low-voltage lighting plan with fixture schedule; grading and drainage notes (engineered grading sheet when needed); and construction details (sections, edges, footings, custom features).

Are your plans permit-ready?+

Yes. Every set leaves with the MWELO worksheet, hydrozone schedule, and applied-water calculations the local water district expects. Building-permit-required items (retaining over 4 feet, structural shade, gas/electric to outdoor kitchens, fire features) are detailed to the level the city plan-check expects.

How long do construction plans take to produce?+

Typically 3–5 weeks from approved design development, depending on scope. Permit-ready packages for larger projects take longer because of detail and engineering coordination.

Can a contractor build from the set without redesigning in the field?+

That's the standard we draw to. Dimensions check, details are buildable, and we're a phone call away when something needs a revision mid-install. RFIs are typically answered the same business day.

Do you draw to a contractor's title block and standards?+

Yes, on white-label work. We'll match your title block, layer conventions, and detail library so plans look like they came from your office. See the Contractors page for the full white-label arrangement.

What if the project changes during construction?+

We issue revised sheets as the project moves. Field conditions never exactly match the plan; capturing revisions cleanly is part of how the design holds up in the field.
